Located on the Mediterranean coast, between Marseille and Barcelona, the commercial port of Sète is the 2nd commercial port in Occitanie and one of the most versatile in the south of France. Managed by the Occitanie Region, it benefits from continuous investments to develop its infrastructure and strengthen its international attractiveness.
Equipped with modern terminals, the port handles a wide variety of traffic:
- Ro-Ro : notably with regular lines to Turkey (DFDS)
- Containers and conventional
- Miscellaneous goods (agri-food, industrial products, etc.)
- Agro-bulk and liquid bulk products
- Automobile traffic and live livestock
Port of Sète
It has more than 20 docks, a depth of up to 14.5 meters, and a capacity to accommodate large vessels. It also offers direct rail access to the terminal, and immediate proximity to the motorway network (A9 and A75).
Thanks to its ideal location, its international maritime connections (notably to Turkey, North Africa, the Middle East), and its rail connections with the rest of Europe, the port of Sète has become an essential multimodal logistics platform serving importers, exporters and logisticians.
THE CONNEXIONS
ROAD / MARITIME / RAIL
Road – A9 / A75 motorway
Our site benefits from strategic accessibility thanks to two major highways:
- The A9 connecting Le Perthus to Orange, facilitating trade with Spain and the Mediterranean.
- The A75 linking Béziers to Clermont-Ferrand, opening a direct link to the Massif Central and the north of France.
Located just 10 km from exit n° 33 of the A9 and 50 km from exit n° 64 of the A75, SUD FRIGO offers a fast and efficient road connection, ideal for national and international transport.
Maritime – Direct access to the Eastern Mediterranean
The port of Sète is served by the DFDS company, a major player in maritime transport, which operates up to 6 weekly rotations on regular lines:
Sète – Yalova (Türkiye)
Sète – Izmir (Türkiye)
These crossings, with an average duration of 72 hours, provide a direct connection between the Western Mediterranean and Turkey, a real crossroads to the markets of the Middle East, the Caucasus and Central Asia. This fast and reliable maritime transit constitutes an efficient alternative to long-distance road transport, with a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions.
MSC shipping line – A strategic bridge to Spain and West Africa
Sète is served by a new regular line operated by MSC, a major player in global maritime transport.
This weekly line (1 stopover each week) directly connects the port of Sète (FR) to the strategic hubs of:
– Valencia (ES)
– Las Palmas (ES)
– Nouakchott and Dakar. (MR)
A major opportunity to strengthen the import/export of containers and further open the port of Sète to the West African and Mediterranean markets.
Rail connection – Multimodal logic reinforced with VIIA
Rail terminal connected to the VIIA network, a combined rail-road transport operator, enabling unaccompanied trailers to be transported on regular lines across Europe.
Main lines from Sète include:
- Sète – Bettembourg (Luxembourg), strategic connection to Northern Europe and the Benelux
- Sète – Calais, offering quick access to the United Kingdom
- Sète – Noisy-le-Sec, to efficiently serve the Paris region
Other possible connections to Germany, Switzerland and Central Europe thanks to the interconnection of the rail network
This maritime-rail intermodality allows for smooth and sustainable transport of goods, with competitive deadlines and high processing capacity, while being part of an eco-responsible logic.
